High School Class Reunion

High School Class Reunion
I’m not really sure why anyone bothers to go to their high school class reunion. People end up being disappointed, and always feel insecure before they go. There are always people in high school that we didn’t like, and there really is no reason to see these people again. If you had good friends in high school, and they were real friends, you don’t need to go to a reunion to see them. People often go out of revenge and want everyone to see how successful they have become. For me, that is just a waste of time. The only person I want to please is myself.
I do have some friends who I have lost contact with since high school, but though I wish them well, I really have no interest in seeing them again. It has been fifteen years, and I am sure we have nothing in common any longer. I remember when I got an invitation to my ten-year reunion. I laughed and threw it in the garbage. My mom later sent me the newspaper clipping from my ten year high school class reunion, and I was delighted to see that only ten people had gone to it, and they all certainly should have stayed home.
Perhaps I am just cynical, but I found high school to be hard. I moved around a lot, and was not treated well by some of the people in my class. This happens at every school, but it is especially hard when you are always the new kid. I have a lot of great friends, but there were also some harsh critics. Looking back, I wish I hadn’t cared so much, but when you are a teenager, you know you care very much. Today I don’t really care, and I even talk to some of these folks if I happen to run into them. I realize we were all different back then. This doesn’t mean that I want to go rub elbows with them at a high school class reunion though.
If you are curious about your old classmates, but don’t want to go to a high school class reunion, you can find some of your old friends on classmates.com. You may not find anyone, but it won’t hurt to look. If you find someone, they may be able to fill you in on some of your old friends, and they may even be able to tell you how to contact them. This way, the whole need to go to a high school class reunion will be negated. Now, a college reunion however would be lovely. Why don’t we do these instead?
